Infrastructure Bond Street & Utility Reconstruction Project
In Fiscal Year 2019, the City of Taylor approved $13.1 million in bond funds for infrastructure improvements. Part of the funds were used to improve roads and drainage, replace water and wastewater lines, and repave driveways within the right-of-way.
The Infrastructure Bond Street and Utility Reconstruction Project was competed in 2022.
Project Overview
The Taylor Streets Project used funds from the 2019 Infrastructure Bond to improve roads, address drainage issues, replace water and wastewater lines, and repave driveways within the City’s right-of-way.
Five streets were reconstructed as part of the project:
- W. Lake Drive - Complete
- W. Third Street - Complete
- N. Lynn Street - Complete
- N. Robinson Street - Complete
- Edmond Street - Complete

Robinson Street Reconstruction - Complete
Edmond Street Reconstruction - Complete
West Third Street Reconstruction - Complete
During construction, West Third Street will be closed to through traffic between Shaw Street and Davis Street. Signs to help you navigate during the construction will be placed along Second Street, Third Street and Fourth Street between Howard Street and Fowzer Street.
- Road closure signs will indicate where the Third Street work begins and ends.
- Detour signs will help navigate non-local traffic around the construction zone.
During construction, Third Street will remain open to local traffic, delivery and emergency services.
West Lake Drive Reconstruction - Complete
During construction, West Lake Drive will be closed to through traffic between Old Georgetown Road and FM 397. Signs to help you navigate during construction will be placed along FM 397, Meadow Lane, West Lake Drive, Second Street and Old Georgetown Road.
- Road closure signs will indicate where the Lake Street road closure begins and ends.
- Detour signs will help navigate non-local traffic around the construction zone.
- Traffic cones will also be placed along FM 397 due to the Lake Street turn lanes being closed.
Lake Street will remain open to local traffic and service access during construction.
