Planning and Zoning

The Planning division concentrates on guiding the development process with the goal of ensuring quality land development for the future of Taylor in accordance with the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Department assists policy makers, property owners, developers, and citizens in regard to growth and new development, protecting and improving existing development, and preserving the City’s historic downtown. We also provide information to the public regarding census and demographic information, population projections, and development trends and impacts.

The department serves as staff for the meetings of the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z), Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA), and other City Council appointed special committees. For these meetings, Planning staff reviews, prepares reports, and makes recommendations on annexations, rezonings and other development applications that require public review. Information on each of these boards and future meetings and agendas can be found on this site.
