We wish to promote effective communication and maintain a respectful dialogue in the social sphere. In that spirit, our commenting and moderation rules will maintain a productive and open forum for community discussion. Our social media channels are intended for community discussion among City of Taylor residents, and non-residents are also welcome to comment.

Open Records Requests are handled through the City Clerk's office. To make an Open Records Request, we recommend going to our Open Records page.

Facebook & Nextdoor Comments Moderation Policy
Moderators may remove or redirect comments that contain:
  • Content that is off topic or not within the scope of the responsibilities of the City of Taylor (or the specific department page)
  • Abusive, profane or insulting language
  • Attacks on individual character or to the personality of individuals
  • Commercial endorsements or products, services, organizations or other entities
  • Political endorsements of parties, candidates or groups
  • Content that infringes on copyrights
  • Solicitation of funds
  • Speculative comments on any ongoing investigation
  • Content that implies, promotes or encourages illegal activity
  • Sexual content

Twitter & Instagram Moderation Policy
Moderators may remove tweets in response to City tweets if they contain the following:

  • Content that is off topic or not within the scope of the responsibilities of the City of Taylor (or the specific department page)
  • Abusive, profane or insulting language
  • Attacks on individual character or to the personality of individuals
  • Commercial endorsements or products, services, organizations or other entities
  • Political endorsements of parties, candidates or groups
  • Content that infringes on copyrights
  • Solicitation of funds
  • Speculative comments on any ongoing investigation
  • Content that implies, promotes or encourages illegal activity
  • Sexual content
Comments on Facebook, Nextdoor, Instagram and Twitter are not deemed to be official public testimony concerning any project or program for which the City is required to hold a public hearing. Expressing your opinion there is for discussion only and is not a substitute for a formal statement in a public hearing process.
