The purposes of the Zoning Ordinance are: to ensure and promote a place in which all citizens may live, work, play, learn, and grow in a safe and productive living environment in a community built for family living; to conserve the value of property and encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the City and to do so in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan. Every property inside the City limits has a zoning designation. To find the zoning designation for a particular piece of property you may use the City’s online maps found at this link.
Zoning changes must be consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and must be reviewed by the Planning Department, Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.
