Levelup Program

The Public Works Department recently presented streets selected for the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Levelup Program. Council approved the selected streets during the Aug. 11, 2022, Council meeting.

The Public Works Staff has budgeted $500,000 for this year’s level up program. At this time, we have completed roads with the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 0 – 16. This year’s program we are concentrating on roads with a PCI of 16 – 21. We will also be addressing some of our failed areas with the remaining funds for Street repairs.

In addition to this year’s level up program, we will be hiring three additional the employees to help the street department. These three employees will be funded from our TUF. They work full time on the streets. They will work with our levelup program, crack sealing in the fall and winter as time allows. Cleaning and spraying curbs, fixing street cuts for the water division, and pot holing.

Pavement Condition Survey

In December of 2019, the City of Taylor retained the services of Gorrondona and Associates, Inc. (G&AI) to assess the existing conditions of the approximately 133 centerline miles of paved roadways maintained by the City. The objective of the pavement condition survey is to assess the existing structural integrity and surface operational condition of the City’s roadways. The survey provides a comprehensive snapshot of pavement conditions at the time of data collection. The results of the survey will assist the City in identifying existing and future pavement M&R needs.
