Heather Long

Heather Long was elected to City Council, District 4 in June 2025. She was first sworn in June 17, 2025. Her current term expires in May 2028

Mrs. Long was born in Austin and grew up in Volente. She graduated from Leander High School in 1990 and has spent more than 30 years working across the legal services, construction, and manufacturing fields, focusing on contracts, project management, and proposal preparation. She is currently employed by H.L. Chapman Pipeline Construction as their Contracts Administrator.  Mrs. Long is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39 serving as its Sergeant at Arms and attends services at the First Baptist Church of Taylor.

She and her husband, Cody, have been married for 27 years and moved to Taylor in 2015. They have three children: their oldest daughter, Graham Reyna, who graduated from Taylor High School in 2017 along with her husband, David; their daughter, Holland “Oates” Long, who will graduate from Taylor High School in 2027; and their son, Charles August “CAL” Long, who passed away at age 5 from a rare, undiagnosed metabolic disease. Mrs. Long and her husband also have two granddaughters, Ophelia and Stella Reyna.

In honor of her son, Mrs. Long coauthored legislation that was introduced in two sessions of Congress by U.S. Congressman John Carter and directed the creation of The CAL Network which would have helped physicians share information about undiagnosed cases and connect with others researching similar conditions, allowing them to work together in real time to find answers and improve patient care and outcomes.
